“Space for Imagination”

“Space for Imagination” is a research project that derives from a major platform that I am currently developing, called Art of Cities: imagine, design, change the city.

The reason why I believe is necessary to elaborate this research is because of the fact that with imagination everything is possible, every project and simple construct starts with the mental image of it.

Training the imagination is the most natural activity that humankind should do. Furthermore, I believe that the intensive technological support that we receive by computers doesn’t help the natural development of our imaginative capacities.

The Idea is to investigate where imagination comes from, how does it work, and how is it applied in several disciplines, with a specific attention to design. The content of the project is going to be a celebration of the imagination as a tool for designing. Leaving behind the rational aspect of designing, the approach that I am proposing aims to empower imagination as a unique human skill that can, in many ways, combine different realms.

The focus is to describe the mind’s eye: the reason and source of our imaginative talent in the making of a work of art. Exhibitions, concerts, projections and place making might be the preferred outcome for this experimental project.

How does imagination work?

Is there a space/place or moment for this to happen?

Can we enlarge it? Can we use the most of our imaginative potential?
